Sofía Camargo is a Colombian filmmaker based in San Francisco. She holds a BA in Anthropology and Art History from Universidad de los Andes and an MFA in Film and Television from NYU. Her work explores the complexities of women’s experiences and domestic life, creating textured, sensory narratives that invite viewers into intimate worlds.

Her short films Al lado del río (2019) and Nostos (2024) were official selections at the Cartagena International Film Festival, with Al lado del río winning the NALIP Jury Award and earning recognition as a Vimeo Staff Pick. Her latest film, We’re Not Done Yet (2024), co-directed with Joseph Longo and starring Barbara Sukowa, premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival and screened at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

Beyond directing, Sofía works as a cinematographer. Her work has screened at Berlinale, Aspen Shortsfest, and Palm Springs, and in 2023, she won the Vienna Shorts Jury Prize for Best Cinematography.

She has also worked in creative development, production, and arts administration, supporting emerging talent through organizations like Ernest Lyford LLC and NYU’s Production Lab.

Sofía is currently developing her first feature film.
