
Sofía Camargo is a Colombian filmmaker based in San Francisco. Drawing on her background in anthropology and art history, she makes sensory-driven films that explore women’s domestic lives, class, and female subjectivity.
Her short films include Eugenia, Al lado del río (NALIP Jury Award, Vimeo Staff Pick), and Nostos. Al lado del río and Nostos screened at the Cartagena International Film Festival and were both acquired by the Criterion Channel. Her most recent short, We’re Not Done Yet, co-directed with Joseph Longo and starring Barbara Sukowa, screened at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Her upcoming short La Selva received the inaugural 2025 Vimeo Short Film Grant.
As a cinematographer, her work has screened at Berlinale, Aspen Shortsfest, and SXSW, and she received the 2023 Vienna Shorts Jury Prize for Best Cinematography.
She holds a BA from Universidad de los Andes and an MFA in Film from NYU.
